Manager & Supporter Training

The Managers and Supporters Wood Badge is for volunteers focussed on leading and supporting volunteers. To begin, sign in to Scouts.org.uk, head to My Learning and assign the Managers and Supporters Wood Badge to your profile. Full instructions can be found in our Digital Tool Guides. Once assigned, you’ll be able to see the required learning, which covers the following themes:

  • Safety
  • Safeguarding
  • Data protection in Scouts
  • Who we are and what we do
  • Creating inclusion*
  • Leading Scout volunteers*
  • All current Manager and Supporter skills courses

*To gain the Managers and Supporters Wood Badge, you’ll still need to do this learning even if you have an automatic sign-off of Growing Roots learning on joining the new digital system.

Skills courses – this consists of three courses (Skills of Management, Meeting the Challenges and Achieving Growth) where learners have an opportunity discuss and demonstrate different skills relating to leadership and management.

It is recommended that where possible learners complete the Skills of Management course first, as many of the skills and concepts are built upon in later courses.

If you have any questions about the learning offered by The Scout Association, please contact your Local Volunteering Development Team Lead.
