September 19 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Who is Practical Skills for?
This module (number 18) is for Section team leaders and members and anyone wishing to train, coach or otherwise help young people and adults develop practical skills. It requires participants to gain or develop at least two new practical skills of their own.
By the end of this module you should be able to:
- Develop their personal ability in any two practical skills that may be used in the programme offered to young people.
- Use at least one of the skills developed for objective one in the programme offered to young people ensuring safety policies are adhered to and a risk assessment is in place for the activity. Also that approval has been granted by the Lead Volunteer for that activity to take place.
- Describe effective methods of learning for adults and young people.
- Select appropriate delivery techniques to meet different learning needs.
- Demonstrate how a young person is effectively trained and developed in a practical skill.
Note: Although objectives one and two are not covered by this material in depth, they are included as part of the validation for this module.
