Meeting The Challenges (1 day)

This course will help you become an even better Manager in Scouting.
Due to Covid19 restrictions Devon Scouts have redesigned the face 2 face Meeting the challenges course to be run on an online platform.
This course consists of three 2 hour online sessions. To ensure that all of the criteria is met there is a small amount of pre-course reading and between session work. None of these additional pieces of work will take any longer than 20 minutes to complete. All work completed can be added to your portfolio of evidence for validation.
Please register below as there are only 18 places per online course.
Sessions will include whole group interaction, small group work with facilitators and some individual reflection.

Course objectives
- Identify causes of conflict and define appropriate strategies to resolve it.
- Understand The Scout Association’s dispute, suspension and complaints procedures in an effective manner to real situations.
- Understand The Scout Association’s safeguarding procedures to real situations.
- Be able to carry out challenging reviews.
- Prioritise the different challenges faced in their role.
- Develop and identify steps to implement their personal action plan.
The following Independent Learning Units are recommended as pre-course learning, if they are relevant to your role:

- Safeguarding for Managers and Supporters
- Dealing with Difficult Situations
- Dealing with Difficult Situations
- Enabling Change
- Financial and Physical Resources
- Decision Making
These sessions will be presented by Zoom so a stable internet connection will be needed.
