DESCRIPTION:This online workshop will enable section leaders and those who may support residential experiences for young people\, as part of their role in Scouting\, to understand the role that residential experiences play in Scouting. \n\n\n\nWho is Introduction to Residential Experiences for?Introduction to Residential Experiences is for volunteers who may organise or support residential experiences for young people as part of their role in Scouting. It is intended to provide an introduction to residential experiences. \n\n\n\nBy attending this course you will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nExplain the role that residential experiences have in the development of young people in Scouting.\n\n\n\nDescribe the organisation and administration of residential experiences.\n\n\n\nIdentify the skills required within a team running a residential experience.\n\n\n\nDescribe the Nights Away Permit scheme\, including where to locate support and further information whilst planning a residential experience.\n\n\n\n\nThe validation of this module is based on your ability to meet the criteria. DESCRIPTION:Who is Skills of Leadership for?Skills of Leadership is aimed at all Team Leaders and Team Members in Scouts. It aims to provide them with the knowledge and skills to demonstrate leadership in the context of Scout Teams where leadership of a team may change according to the task and be dynamic\, be able to plan systematically\, lead effectively by demonstrating a range of leadership styles and understand how different leadership styles impact on learning. It also provides optional learning on the key leadership skills of delegation and motivation. \n\n\n\nBy the end of this module you should be able to: \n\n\n\n\nDefine what it means to “lead”\n\n\n\nDescribe and apply a model of systematic planning\n\n\n\nAnalyse and enact the functions of a leader in terms of: a. Identifying tasks to be done b. Actions to assist the team to work effectively c. Meeting the needs of individuals within the team d. Identify and apply a range of leadership styles e. Identify their own predominant style of leadership f. SUMMARY:Practical skills (Module 18)
DESCRIPTION:Who is Practical Skills for?This module (number 18) is for Section team leaders and members and anyone wishing to train\, coach or otherwise help young people and adults develop practical skills. It requires participants to gain or develop at least two new practical skills of their own. \n\n\n\nBy the end of this module you should be able to: \n\n\n\n\nDevelop their personal ability in any two practical skills that may be used in the programme offered to young people.\n\n\n\nUse at least one of the skills developed for objective one in the programme offered to young people ensuring safety policies are adhered to and a risk assessment is in place for the activity. Also that approval has been granted by the Lead Volunteer for that activity to take place.\n\n\n\nDescribe effective methods of learning for adults and young people.\n\n\n\nSelect appropriate delivery techniques to meet different learning needs.\n\n\n\nDemonstrate how a young person is effectively trained and developed in a practical skill.\n\n\n\n\nNote: Although objectives one and two are not covered by this material in depth\, they are included as part of the validation for this module.
